Observe before explaining an object
Separate what you can see from what the catalogue tells you. Both are useful, but they support different kinds of statement.
Understand the idea
Study the manuscript image on the heritage page. “The lines are arranged horizontally” is an observation; a date or attribution needs a catalogue. Write each statement in its own column. When a photograph does not show a feature clearly, leave the observation open.
