From reading to understanding

Reading a report is a starting point for study. Questions of application may involve other reports, Quranic passages, historical context and principles of jurisprudence. Avoid turning an isolated excerpt into a general ruling.

1. Write the question you are trying to understand.
2. Separate the wording of the report from your own inference.
3. Ask a qualified teacher which other evidence and principles are relevant.
