A purposeful lesson

A lesson needs a goal that can be observed. “Study Arabic” is broad; “read these three sentences and explain the unfamiliar words” gives teacher and student a shared task and a way to review it.

1. Choose one outcome for the next meeting.
2. Select a short resource that directly supports it.
3. Leave time for the student to demonstrate what changed.
